Nickles Gets Nominated. Mayor Fenty has announced the nomination of Peter J. Nickles as Attorney General for the District of Columbia. Nickles has served as Interim Attorney General since January, and joined the Administration last year as the Mayor’s General Counsel.
Supreme Court Ruling

Supreme Court Ruling. The United States Supreme Court has ruled in District of Columbia v. Heller, a case challenging the District’s handgun ban. Although the Court found the ban unconstitutional, it will remain in effect until the Metropolitan Police Department issues regulations on the registration of handguns in the next few weeks.
